Basic Bookkeeping for Your Business

Software: QuickBooks Simple Start (free program) and PowerPoint Viewer (free program, if you do not have MS Office PowerPoint).
Goals: This course will teach you basic bookkeeping skills for your virtual assistant and entrepreneur business. We will cover accounting terminology, how to set up and maintain your bookkeeping system in QuickBooks Simple Start, and year-end archiving. This course will not prepare you for setting up and/or maintaining other business’ accounting, only your own!
This is a 1-week, self-paced course, which consists of two sessions and a short research project. Lessons 1-2 and a research project will be released on Mondays and lessons 3-4 and the final exam will be released the following Wednesdays. It will be offered every third week of each month.

Research Due date, Next Lesson and Final Exam Upload date, and Final Exam due date will be provided on the first day of our course.
Grading: * The final exam requires a minimum grade of 80% to graduate.
* The research project and the final exam must be turned in on time to be accepted due to the short length of this class.
Research: You will be required to find specific information on both the IRS and your local state department of revenue websites.
Course: Students are encouraged to interact and email me any questions. The instructor will respond to all questions within 24 hours Monday through Friday.
Miscellaneous: Course/instructor evaluations will be emailed following the final exam. We appreciate any and all responses.

Lily E. Chambers, CPS, CQU owns and operates The Virtual Office Goddess, LLC. In addition, she is the Publisher/Editor of The Virtual Evolution Magazine and is the Treasurer on the Board of Whole Systems Institute (a Boulder, CO non-profit).
Ms. Chambers has three decades of bookkeeping, executive secretarial, office management, and office support experience in the criminal justice, legal (criminal and immigration), water engineering, funeral service, property valuation, landscaping, water/oilfield pipe and supply, manufacturing, food service, hospitality, and retail industries.
